HP sure in the heck isn't local in Omaha, they hire contractors to go to businesses to replace motherboards, etc for the onsite component.

NTG got much of its early business being those "local" guys for HPE, Dell, etc.

And funny enough... even being the "local guy" meant that our Rochester, NY guys covered like eight states. When those big companies are sending their "local guy", they are driving hundreds of miles much of the time unless you are in a huge city.

@JaredBusch - The Endpoint Manager has it Enabled. I set it as disabled to match your settings to see if that fixes it. I will report back later with the results. As always thank you for your assistance.

@jaredbusch Thanks for this link. I'll give it a try. I hope UBNT did not trim the CLI down too much on the USG. I now better understand why Edge series is still the prefered choice for deployment among many๐Ÿ™‚

Especially now that UNMS is available, that's pretty slick.

UNMS 0.12.0 (currenlty in alpha) will add the CLI to the web interface.

That's very exciting. So much good stuff happening with UNMS.

How do you secure this for truly mobile use (crazy guy is allowed to demand the use of a physical phone from anywhere)?

Ideally, crazy long passwords, and better with TLS on the SIP channel. You can go further with port knocking and similar. VPN is an option. But good passwords go a long way, and adding TLS goes really far.

You don't hotdesk with secure creds though because you cannot trust users type all of that in. That is why it is a bad idea for this scenario.

The best option is simply to use secure credentials like always and just allow the extension to authenticate from more than one device.

This requires training the users to push their ext button before dialing out when using the shared phone in the office.

This will likely be the way I'll handle the folks who come into the office once per week. This project is the perfect opportunity to introduce new behavior.

@Dashrender Right now, there is no security outside of extension number and passcode. Out-of-office users, simply have their phones configured to talk to our on-premises server and they login using their extension's credentials. Everything's in the clear.

Hence your toll fraud. I can log on to any of those extensions from anywhere.

I use zoiper on my android for a soft phone. I tried linphone but it wasn't very reliable.

What is the best way to set up zoiper for an extension and receive Config?

If you are asking for our phone system, we don't push configs to remote Zoiper. You have to set it manually.

I actually just figured it out and got the account set up!

Awesome, I'd call you to test it out but I'm way too tired at this point.

I am going to try calling a friend, see if it comes up with the NTG number.. is that what should happen?

It should, yes. You need to dial the full eleven digits with our phone system, so put a 1 in front.

I hate that with a passion. I force all systems to be 10 digit dialing. I handle the country code for a 10 digit outbound.

We sell Carrier Services and usually size based more on the number of calls not the number of people. 30 simultaenous calls should be easy on any good (read: true business class) Internet circuit. @scottalanmiller has the bandwidth nailed on the head above. We di try and get users to get the best Upstream bandwidth which for cable modem installs around here is very difficult (Time Warner only offers 5Meg UP even in Business Class which is pathetic).
For our needs internally we needed well over 100 simultaneous call paths. We went with a dedicated circuit to a Rochester based cough carrier cough and a backup trunk over an Internet circuit. While bandwith has never been an issue lets just say I can't wait for the contract for the cough carrier to expire so that we can port and go to the Internet for our needs and dump them!

Option #1 up and running. Now to work on the OpenVPN part of the equation... ๐Ÿ™‚

I have set this up but then ran into the problem of the OpenVPN port being blocked. Slightly hard to change once out in the wild.

      On which end?

The remote end obviously. As I have full control of the server side.
